Anton Mink is Chloa-vocals, Anton Z.-bass, Andy Jack-guitar and Clinton on the drums The first part of the band Chloa and Anton Z. formed in 2004 we had a drummer for awhile but then couldn't find one but we also had other things going on so it was more of a hobby. We (Anton Z. and Chloa) used to play w/ just bass and vocals at places like The Highland Taproom and open mics. We found a drummer through a post on the wall at Mom's Music and then played lots of various gigs we got around to recording an album in late 2006/early 2007.
Anton Z. came up with the name Anton Mink because he was formerly in a punk band and thought it was would like a good fictional punk character but would throw people off to have a female on lead vocals.
We were having problems as a band before our break mainly I guess because I (Chloa) wasn't taking it seriously just kind of partied my way through everything and I started writing my own music. I started playing solo gigs out until I found out I was pregnant and then our last show was in May of that year and I cancelled the rest. We had started to record the album down in Nashville but I ended up going back to school to get a degree while pregnant and then honestly just wanted to focus on my son. I didn't think I would be going back to singing or anything but when he was a year old I decided to go and record my vocals for the album because, well when you love something you always go back to it and I've always loved making music.
I guess I take responsibility because I was kind of an asshole but didn't realize it until much later because I had a case of fuckitall. My thing was I didn't have any responsibilities at the time and was younger than everyone else so to me it didn't matter. Now that I have a child music is mainly my escape from the everyday so my views have changed drastically. I really don't think I'm qualified to give advice to anyone but I mean basically its just a difference in lifestyles and sometimes they clash. Having a child sometimes makes me laugh when I'm singing some of my old song lyrics because I think about my kid getting old enough to understand one of them and being like, "What the hell Mom?!" also I don't have as much drama to draw from as far as songs go either. A few of my new songs are a complete switch in subject matter as well in example I wrote one about a serial killer and another about a superhero.
The new album is called "Outside The Lines" and what makes it different from the first one is that we have a guitarist. The first album was just recorded w/ bass, drums, vocals and then we added guitar in and I think it made a huge difference on this one. Basically this one isn't streamlined either none of the songs relate to each other as much as they did on the first album they're more of a mix of songs we had wrote before we had guitar and then with a guitarist so it made a for a really diverse record. Also I played keys on the first album and on this one Andy Jack plays the organ.
The funniest part of it was that I brought my son to record the vocals which was a first for the engineer. He'd said he'd never had a baby in the studio before just people trying to make them.
